The cost of fuel has dramatically increased in recent years. Car tax is no longer a “one size fits all” fee for motorists. Toll roads are in place and the charge for using these is also on the increase. Car insurance charges have increased. All in all, the costs involved in keeping a car on the road in the UK today are high, they have increased much more quickly than wages.
There is another side to this coin. The costs we as individuals are experiencing are also being felt by companies running public transport. I travel each week to London from Newcastle upon Tyne and currently to turn up at the railway station and purchase a return ticket, the fee is over
