There are numerous reasons why I have opted to pursue a New career as a search engine optimisation consultant, and I’m going to go over those reasons now. My main purpose for doing this is to help provide people who might also be searching for New careers some assistance and guidance on the advantages of becoming an SEO, and to help them find out if it is something which would engage them.
One of the main reasons I have resolved to become an SEO is because it is one of the first Careers I have had a real interest in doing in a very long time, and I shall tell you why in a moment. Essentially I have been undecided my whole life about what career I wish to do, and I seem to have considered doing all types of different Careers at one point or another. I always seem to point out the negative aspects of a job, and typically it is enough to stop me aiming for that career for good, so then I must start searching for something else. However, after under taking a lot of research on the SEO job, I could only find a couple of bad points, and they were not enough to stop me wanting to do the job full time. This is my main reason for deciding to follow this as something I would want to do as a full time job.
Another reason for deciding to follow it is that, it is, to me anyway, a really interesting concept to follow. As the internet is such a major part of the majority of people’s lives now, using it to find services and things is commonplace for many people. Now people are generally somewhat lazy when looking for stuff on the internet, and the majority of people don’t search past page one on Google after they have entered a search query. So, showing on page one is a big advantage for businesses, as it’s essentially a style of advertising, and it means they have the possibility there to gain a lot more traffic and customers than if they aren’t on page one. To me it is an extremely interesting concept as no-one outside of Google really knows how the algorithms that generate the searches work, so getting the websites to page one takes time and perseverance. Once they get there though, you have put that website in good standing to receive more traffic and business. This is where you also win, as in my case, the companies are charged per keyword per week, so it generates a good source of income. The rates of pay can vary depending on the type of company you are working for though.
My only issue about becoming an SEO is the fact that, as discussed before, no-one outside of Google is truly aware of how the algorithms work. This means there is a chance that if they adjust them drastically, it could have a dramatic impact on work that has been done, and potentially cause keywords you have worked hard to get page 1 to fall away. However, I feel it is a slight risk, and one I am willing to take to start on a New career that really interests me. Of all the New careers I have looked at over the years, this one fascinates me the most.
