With the really cold temperatures and heavy blizzards, there have been many problems for tenants. The cold weather has caused burst pipes and breaking heating systems, putting plumbers and heating specialists under stress to endeavour to mend all the problems as quickly as possible, especially bearing in mind that it is too cold to cope without heat or water.
As well as this, we have the concern that there has been a sudden rise in temperature, triggering the snow to melt quickly and this has triggered its own issues. I know of one couple whose conservatory was totally flooded and all the furniture spoilt while they were away on holiday, due to the melting snow.
So, along with the icy road conditions causing employees to miss time from work, either because they have had an accident in their vehicle or roads are impassable, they now want time off work to deal with household issues. How do they deal with this? Do they choose to Work From Home, take a break or take time off work, unpaid? Will they have much notice that a plumber or insurance assessor will be coming to their house, or will they want to stay home for a few days in anticipation of somebody being able to assist at short notice?
Many employees who work in the Internet Business Work From Home, and in cases like the above, this is pleasing news. No matter when their workmen can come and repair any issues they have come across this winter, they will be home. They can continue to do their Online Jobs until the workmen turn up, let them assess the task, then continue with their Online Jobs while the workmen get on with the task in hand. Not even a day needs to be lost from work to get problems sorted if you Work From Home.
Even if you have burst pipes and are flooded out of your home, if you run an Internet Business you just need to ensure wherever you are situated while your house is made liveable again, you can take your pc and you have internet connection. That way your business can still function smoothly through this tough time, which is an absolute boon. Work From Home is very flexible, it does not mean you must work from your own home, more that you can work by yourself, away from an office environment.
So, if you are sick and tired with not being able to get to the office, because public transport is stopped or roads are impassable due to the snow; you have pipes which have burst in the freezing conditions; you have a central heating system which needs attention; your house is flooded due to the fast melting snow or the ruptured pipes, look at your own options. Is there a way that you could Work From Home? Has the chance presented itself during the snowstorms to show you how this could be possible in your current employment, or has it just given you time to sit down and look at your options? Whatever you decide, hopefully by next winter we will all be better organized and able to cope with a British winter.
